Calendar

One of my co-workers thought it would be a great idea to team up and create a really awesome cool calendar. I love doing retro, costume-y, pinup-y, glam-y type shoots. And he loves... well... girls and cars! So, he got the cars, and I got the girls! The project for now has been put on hold for the winter. But here are some little teasers of what I got so far!

ERIN
1950's pin-up

Erin is an artist originally from Red Deer, but travels around for work and play. We met through some mutual friends, and I knew right away she would be the perfect model for this shoot!

We used an old truck parked out back behind our shop. It doesn't run so we just rolled it out from where it was sitting by the fence, and did the whole shoot in the back ally. There were some people living back there at the time though, and this one guy decided to grab a beer and just sit there and watch. So we thought we would go around the other side of the truck where he couldn't see..... well, he just got up and stood where he could see. He wasn't even trying to hide it. What a creep.

ARIELLE
1940's glam

Arielle is a dancer/student who is originally from Sylvan Lake. I met her through my younger sister who dances at the same studio.

This car is a hotrod which did run, but we ended up in another back ally anyways, mainly for the old brick building in the background. We ended up with an audience there as well, being right beside the halfway house and soup kitchen.... oh well.

BETH
1960's pin-up

I met Beth in college, she was a first year costumer when I was a second year.

We did this session outside the ice cream shop downtown. I did not get the desired effect of the ice cream shop that I had hoped for, so a lot of the photos were taken without it in the background. But many cute shots with ice cream cones and roller skates! Not many photos from this session though, as I ended up losing a lot of light very quickly that evening.

MANDY
1930's glam

Mandy is a welder/musician who lives in Red Deer. We also met through mutual friends. When I thought of this project, there was no doubt in my mind that she was my 1930's girl!

The owner of this rod happens to be the partner in this project. We did this shoot inside the shop where we work.

CRYSTAL
1950's pin-up/glam

Crystal is my sister-in-laws sister. This shoot was thrown together last minute when this pretty little '31 Ford came into the shop for a short period of time. I thought this was to pretty of a car to not do a shoot with. Crystal is a blast to work with!! She is bubbly and the camera loves her. Such a natural in front of the camera!

Cheryl
1950's pin-up

Cheryl was an accidental candidate for the calendar. She was actually a client looking for pin-up photos to send to her boyfriend overseas in Afghanistan. Which I thought was cool cause that was how the original pin-up was started. I was so happy with how the shoot went, and she was so photogenic, it was exactly what I was looking for for the calendar. So I asked her if we could use one for the project and she was more then willing!

Blog Slacker

Some of you may have noticed my blog has been emptied out. well, I just wasn't keeping up with it the way I wanted to, only using it to post a few pictures here and there. so I have decided to start fresh, and restart some posts from projects from this past summer. Hopefully posting along with pictures, stories and descriptions of each. So..... here I go....
